Senior Database and Software Developer Associate – ACDMS

About the role

The Senior Database and Software Developer Associate will serve as the technical focal point for the Afghanistan Centralised Database Management System (ACDMS). Reporting to senior programme and information management officers, the incumbent will ensure the reliability, performance and security of the database and application layers.

Key responsibilities

• Design, configure and maintain relational database structures, schemas, tables, views, functions and procedures for all ACDMS modules.
• Develop, enhance and support secure web‑based ACDMS applications, producing clean, documented code and managing controlled releases.
• Create and maintain RESTful APIs, data‑exchange services and integration routines linking ACDMS with internal and external systems.
• Administer source code and database scripts in version‑control repositories, applying branching, peer‑review and change‑control practices.
• Implement authentication, authorisation, role‑based access, encryption, logging and audit controls in line with IOM security policies.
• Conduct unit, integration, regression and performance testing, support user‑acceptance testing and verify release readiness.
• Build automated reports, dashboards and data services for business‑intelligence tools.
• Implement backup, restoration, disaster‑recovery and business‑continuity procedures for databases and applications.
• Provide second‑line technical support, diagnose incidents and maintain incident/change records.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT or related field with at least five years of relevant experience, or high‑school diploma with seven years of experience.
• Progressively responsible experience in database design, software/web application development, systems integration and technical support.
• Experience developing and maintaining web‑based applications using server‑side and client‑side languages or frameworks.
• Experience with RESTful APIs, version‑control platforms and structured software development lifecycle practices.
