Quantity Surveyor Internship

About the role

Aecon is seeking a Quantity Surveyor Intern to support its Civil East sector projects across the Caribbean region. The role offers hands‑on experience in cost management, contract administration and risk mitigation while working alongside seasoned professionals.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with project development, aligning schedules and budgets with business expectations.
• Evaluate subcontractor quotes, draft and negotiate contract terms before tender submission.
• Process interim applications, manage variations, and prepare final cost accounts.
• Collect records to verify payments, defend subcontractor claims and mitigate commercial risks.
• Participate in weekly financial forecasting and prepare cost estimates for ongoing projects.

Required profile

• Currently enrolled in a Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering or related construction program.
• Ability to read and understand construction drawings and contract documents.
• Strong organizational and communication skills; capable of working under pressure.
• Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel as required.

Required skills

• Knowledge of contract language, terms, conditions and bonding.
• Understanding of job‑cost fundamentals and basic accounting/reporting principles.
