Project Director - Construction Project

About the role

Muzamil Bahar Karwan Construction Company (MBKC Co.), a licensed construction and engineering firm based in Ghazni, Afghanistan, is seeking an experienced Project Director to lead its construction project in Ghazni city. The role covers the full project lifecycle, from mobilization and planning to closeout, and reports directly to Top Management / Corporate Head Office.

Key responsibilities

• Direct and control the entire project lifecycle, develop project plans, schedules and resource strategies, and monitor progress against milestones.
• Lead and manage a multidisciplinary team including Project Managers, Site Engineers, Superintendents, Foremen and administrative staff, and oversee field operations.
• Establish, monitor and approve project budgets, resource allocations and financial forecasts, and manage financial reporting.
• Oversee construction activities, subcontractors and vendors, and resolve technical and operational issues on site.
• Manage logistics, including movement of materials, equipment and personnel, and coordinate with procurement teams.
• Act as the main point of contact for city government officials, ministries and delegations, and prepare progress, risk and financial reports for top management.
• Enforce a "Safety First" culture, ensure compliance with Afghan law and Ghazni municipality requirements, and run QA/QC protocols.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related field; Master's degree or PMP certification highly preferred.
• Minimum 8-13 years of progressive construction management experience, including at least 5 years in a senior leadership role on large-scale infrastructure or building projects.
• Proven track record managing staff, logistics, contractors and field operations.
• Fluent English (mandatory); fluency in Pashto and Dari is a critical requirement.
• Prior experience in Afghanistan or similar high-security environments is highly desirable.

Required skills

• Construction management software (essential).
• Proficiency in project management tools such as MS Project and Contractor Foreman is a plus.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD and engineering design software.
• Understanding of materials testing and quality control procedures.
