Project Manager – Road Construction

About the role

Seashore Construction Company, an Afghan-owned firm specialising in road and infrastructure development, is looking for a Project Manager to plan, execute and deliver a 50 km road construction project. The role calls for strong leadership, technical expertise in road and highway construction, and the ability to manage teams, contractors and stakeholders in a challenging environment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop project plans, schedules and resource allocation strategies, and monitor progress against milestones
• Supervise road works such as earthworks, subgrade, pavement, drainage and structures, and review technical drawings and method statements
• Manage contractors, subcontractors and consultants, evaluate their performance and resolve disputes
• Prepare and manage budgets, approve invoices and manage financial reporting
• Implement QA/QC procedures, conduct site inspections and ensure materials testing and documentation
• Enforce HSE policies, conduct risk assessments and ensure safe working conditions
• Liaise with government authorities, communities and donors, and report regularly to stakeholders
• Identify technical, environmental and security risks and coordinate with security teams where needed
• Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports and maintain project records

Required profile

• Minimum 8-12 years of experience in road/highway construction projects
• Proven experience managing large-scale infrastructure projects (preferably 30+ km roads)
• Experience in challenging or conflict-affected environments is an advantage

Required skills

• Knowledge of road construction techniques and standards
• Project management skills (planning, scheduling, budgeting); familiarity with FIDIC contracts is highly desirable
• Proficiency in project management tools such as MS Project and Primavera
• Knowledge of AutoCAD and engineering design software
