Heating Air Conditioning Technician

About the role

This full-time, on‑site position in Kandahar involves installing, maintaining, and repairing HVAC systems, including air‑conditioning units, heating equipment, ventilation, and associated controls. The technician works independently while adhering to safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair HVAC equipment and controls.
• Diagnose system issues and perform routine inspections.
• Carry out preventive maintenance tasks on heating, cooling, and ventilation systems.
• Ensure all work complies with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
• Coordinate with facility staff, document service activities, and order required parts and materials.
• Respond promptly to service calls and maintain a reliable facility environment.

Required profile

• Strong HVAC troubleshooting skills covering mechanical, electrical, and performance issues.
• Experience with plumbing tasks related to HVAC systems, such as condensate drainage and piping.
• Demonstrated ability to perform preventive maintenance on heating, air‑conditioning, and ventilation equipment.
• Knowledge of electricity and electrical safety as applied to HVAC controls and wiring.
• Relevant EPA certification or equivalent qualification for handling refrigerants.
• Previous experience as an HVAC Technician or in a similar facilities‑maintenance role, preferably in demanding or remote environments.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and equipment documentation.
• High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training, technical certification, or apprenticeship in HVAC is preferred.
