Facilities Management Assistant

About the role

The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) is seeking a Facilities Management Assistant to support the smooth operation of its premises. Working under the Chief Facilities Management Unit, the volunteer will ensure that buildings, utilities, accommodation and related services meet UN standards.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and coordinate facilities management services across UNAMA premises, including buildings, utilities, accommodation areas, landscaping and infrastructure.
• Conduct regular inspections of offices, accommodation and sanitary facilities to ensure cleanliness and service quality.
• Monitor contractor performance, compliance with contract requirements and adherence to approved safety plans.
• Report deficiencies, safety incidents and required corrective actions.
• Coordinate logistics support for accommodation and office supplies, and provide front‑desk services such as bookings and check‑in/check‑out.
• Support housekeeping for staff, visitors, contractors and VIP guests, and assist with setup of meetings, conferences and official events.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Hotel Management, Hospitality, Facilities Management, Business Administration, Engineering or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
• Minimum four years of progressively responsible experience in hotel, hospitality, camp, facilities, housekeeping or administrative management.
• Experience in staff training, mentoring and capacity‑building is desirable.
• Fluent English is required.
