Electrical Engineer Internship

About the role

Join Aecon’s Civil East sector as an Electrical Engineer Intern, supporting project teams on complex infrastructure projects. You will assist with design, calculations, and coordination while gaining hands‑on experience in a fast‑paced construction environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with electrical engineering assignments of limited to moderate complexity, including updating blueprints and schematics using AutoCAD or Revit.
• Perform basic electrical calculations for power loads, voltage drops, lighting, and short circuits.
• Maintain detailed design documentation and coordinate electrical scopes across facilities and system interfaces.
• Review M&E drawings, specifications, shop drawings, and RFIs to identify conflicts and constructability issues.
• Support testing, commissioning, and system turnover activities, including documentation and close‑out requirements.

Required profile

• Currently enrolled in an Electrical Engineering degree program.
• Understanding of basic AC/DC circuits, three‑phase power, and international codes.
• Strong technical writing, presentation, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, prioritising tasks in a multi‑tasked environment.
• Valid driver’s licence and ability to travel as required.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Experience with Autodesk AutoCAD (and optionally Revit) for graphical design.
