Driver

About the role

The Driver will operate IOM vehicles safely and efficiently to transport staff, documents and authorized items across Afghanistan, ensuring compliance with traffic and security procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Drive IOM vehicles in accordance with local road traffic rules and regulations.
• Perform daily vehicle checks (tires, brakes, engine, oil, etc.) and arrange minor repairs.
• Coordinate vehicle movements with the Fleet Manager and Dispatcher and keep the vehicle clean.
• Maintain fuel levels, complete mileage logs and submit receipts for fuel purchases.
• Record and report any accidents or collisions to the Fleet Manager/Dispatcher and Security Office.
• Travel to various locations in Afghanistan, working flexible hours and undertaking long‑distance trips with overnight stays.

Required profile

• High school education with at least two years of driving experience.
• Formal driver training and a valid driver’s licence.
• Two or more years of experience as an armored vehicle driver, preferably in an international organization or UN system.
• Demonstrated safe driving record and ability to keep confidentiality.

Required skills

• Defensive driving techniques.
• Vehicle maintenance and basic mechanical troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of local traffic rules and regulations.
