Supply Officer

About the role

The Supply Officer will be based in Kabul within the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) and will report to the Chief, Centralized Warehousing. The role involves managing inventory, procurement, and logistics to support mission operations.

Key responsibilities

• Manage inventory and storage, conduct cycle counts, and ensure accurate physical inventories.
• Meet warehouse operation KPIs and prepare cost estimates, budgets, and long‑term forecasts for equipment, supplies, and utilities.
• Initiate procurement, maintenance, and disposal actions; conduct market research and adapt contract practices to UN requirements.
• Conduct technical surveys, plan asset redeployment, and oversee field supply delivery operations.
• Prepare Receiving and Inspection reports and supervise junior staff.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of progressively responsible experience in supply services, inventory/asset management, logistics, engineering or project management.
• Advanced working skills in SAP ERP (Umoja ECC) and Umoja Business Analytics.
• Experience with inventory reconciliation, physical inventory programmes, and GL account corrections.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; fluency in English (UN Level II) required.
