Community Engagement Team Leader

About the role

The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is seeking a Community Engagement Team Leader to strengthen social cohesion, promote peace, and mitigate conflict impacts in Afghanistan. The role supports the design and delivery of community safety and conflict‑mediation activities, working closely with programme staff and external partners.

Key responsibilities

• Assist Community Engagement officers with procurement planning, updates, and follow‑up.
• Provide translation of training materials and interpretation during meetings.
• Plan, organise, and facilitate trainings and workshops on community safety mapping, conflict analysis, and conflict management.
• Support the CE Specialist/HDP Manager in updating training methodology, content, and materials.
• Identify and implement community safety and social cohesion initiatives.
• Maintain regular communication with area‑office staff for mentoring and reporting.
• Establish and sustain linkages with internal and external stakeholders.
• Conduct conflict assessments, ensure they are current, and share findings with relevant DRC teams.
• Build capacity of CE officers through conflict‑mediation training and community safety support.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in community engagement, conflict analysis, and training delivery.
• Ability to support procurement processes and manage documentation.
• Strong communication skills for mentoring staff and liaising with partners.
• Fluency in English and relevant local languages for translation and interpretation.
