Grants Management Specialist

About the role

UNOPS Afghanistan (AFCO) is recruiting a Grants Management Specialist to work under the guidance of the Senior Project Manager and in close coordination with the project team. The post covers grant management services and general financial management, working with technical counterparts, grant delivery partners at country level and UNOPS HQ, Legal and Financial Units. It also involves supporting the development of a monitoring and evaluation system for project data and results.

Key responsibilities

• Grant management: prepare and manage grant agreements, advise on proposal evaluation, review grantees' narrative reports and prepare other reports submitted to the project manager and donor
• Financial management: review grants budgets and financial reports, lead financial monitoring, advise on budget reallocation and portfolio planning, and support audit reports and grantees' financial capacity assessments
• Monitoring and evaluation: monitor grants, help develop field monitoring checklists and reporting templates, and support the quarterly quality assurance process
• Knowledge sharing: update the operational manual, SOPs, guidelines and templates, train project personnel, and share lessons learned and best practices
• General support: answer queries, draft talking points, slide decks and blog entries, identify risks and issues, and perform other tasks requested by the Senior Project Manager
