Finance Officer

About the role

The Finance Officer will join a national NGO in Kabul, supporting the financial management of development programmes. This full‑time, on‑site position involves daily bookkeeping, preparation of financial statements and ensuring compliance with donor and organisational policies.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, review and analyse financial statements and periodic reports.
• Assist in the development and monitoring of project budgets.
• Record daily transactions, maintain accurate ledgers and support month‑end and year‑end closing processes.
• Collaborate with project teams to provide financial analysis and respond to information requests.
• Ensure expenditures align with approved budgets and donor requirements.
• Support internal controls, audit readiness and compliance with organisational policies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of financial statements, reporting and budgeting.
• Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret financial data.
• Effective communication skills for interaction with program teams, management and external partners.
• Experience in NGO financial systems or donor‑funded projects is preferred.

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Excel and other office applications.
• Experience with accounting software and basic knowledge of NGO financial systems.
