Head of Department, Grant and Partnership

About the role

Reporting to the Deputy Country Director of Programs, you will lead the grant and partnership function for the Afghanistan office, overseeing the full project cycle from proposal development to reporting and partnership management.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development and implementation of grants management processes across the entire project cycle, ensuring quality, efficiency, and compliance.
• Lead and coordinate high‑quality proposal development with program and operations teams and support the funding strategy.
• Lead all internal and external reporting processes.
• Manage the grants team and build the capacity of staff involved in grant management.
• Engage with donors and maintain strong, long‑term relationships.
• Provide strategic oversight of partnership and localisation activities.
• Demonstrate personal commitment in promoting gender equality and ACF gender minimum standards.

Required profile

• University degree in fundraising, public relations, communications, development, humanitarian aid, international relations or a related field.
• At least 5 years of experience in humanitarian or development fundraising with institutional donors, preferably within INGOs.
• Proven ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines and manage multiple tasks autonomously.
• Strong managerial and organisational skills with experience leading and motivating a grants team.
• Fluent English with excellent report‑writing and communication abilities.
