Accounting and Reporting Examiner

About the role

The Accounting & Reporting Examiner works within the Accounting Section of Banking Supervision at a central bank, ensuring that banks’ regulatory and financial reports are accurate, complete, and compliant with applicable regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Review and analyze banks’ regulatory and financial reports for accuracy, completeness, consistency, and regulatory compliance.
• Examine accounting and regulatory reporting practices, identifying discrepancies, misclassifications, omissions, and reporting deficiencies.
• Review key regulatory returns, including DCP, DDP, OPX, Call Reports, ICR, RCW, and other regulatory reports.
• Reconcile reported information with supporting documents and related reports, and follow up on identified discrepancies.
• Prepare and communicate supervisory observations, and monitor banks’ corrective actions and revised submissions.
• Monitor compliance with regulatory reporting requirements, prescribed formats, and submission deadlines.
• Review financial statements, accounting records, and supporting documents as part of the banking supervision process.
• Contribute to compliance‑based supervision and the application of relevant Basel principles and regulatory requirements.
