Senior External Auditor

About the role

The Senior External Auditor will work full‑time on‑site in Herat Province, leading external audit engagements for public and private sector clients. The role involves planning audits, assessing risks, testing controls, and delivering evidence‑based audit reports that comply with international and local standards.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and lead audit engagements, including risk assessments and substantive testing of financial statements.
• Review working papers, ensure compliance with accounting and auditing standards, and prepare clear audit reports and recommendations.
• Supervise and coach junior auditors, delegating tasks and providing feedback.
• Coordinate with client management to address audit findings, queries, and recommendations.
• Contribute to engagement budgeting, scheduling, and quality‑assurance processes.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of external auditing methodologies, risk‑based approaches, and international auditing standards.
• Solid understanding of financial accounting principles, financial statement analysis, and internal control frameworks.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Auditing or related field; professional certifications (CPA, ACCA, CIA) are an advantage.
• Several years of progressive experience in external auditing, preferably with complex or multi‑entity audits.
• Excellent communication, high integrity, and ability to work on‑site in Herat under local regulatory conditions.
