Ultrasound Specialist

About the role

A modern hospital in Afghanistan is looking for an Ultrasound Specialist to perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations, obtain accurate images and measurements, and support physicians in diagnosing and managing patients. The specialist is also responsible for the proper use, care, cleaning and maintenance of ultrasound equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations according to physician requests, hospital protocols and professional standards, including abdominal, pelvic, obstetric, gynecological, breast and thyroid scans.
• Obtain high-quality images and measurements, record findings accurately and maintain complete patient records.
• Inform and instruct patients before and during the examination, and protect patient privacy, dignity and confidentiality.
• Communicate significant or urgent findings to the responsible physician and assist with ultrasound-guided procedures when within professional competency.
• Maintain, clean and care for ultrasound equipment and accessories, report malfunctions immediately and follow infection prevention and control procedures.
• Work with doctors, nurses and other staff, follow hospital policies and ethics, and take part in quality improvement and continuing professional development.

Required profile

• Diploma or bachelor's degree in Medical Ultrasound, Diagnostic Medical Sonography or a related field from a recognized institution.
• Valid professional license, registration or certification required by the relevant health authority.
• Practical training or work experience in the ultrasound examinations required for the position.
• Strong patient care, communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to work with the healthcare team.
