Programme Coordinator – Protection

About the role

The Programme Coordinator (Protection) will support IOM Afghanistan in managing and delivering protection projects. Reporting to the Deputy Chief of Mission and the Head of Programmes and Operations, the role ensures that protection activities are aligned with the IASC Protection Policy and integrated with broader mission priorities.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the planning, implementation, coordination and monitoring of protection projects across Afghanistan.
• Elevate protection risk reduction at the strategic level and ensure synergy with concurrent programmes.
• Collaborate closely with the Afghanistan Protection Cluster and relevant working groups.
• Prepare and submit regular project reports, budgets and performance indicators.
• Facilitate the development of protection‑related tools, guidelines and capacity‑building activities.
• Represent IOM in protection‑focused meetings and coordinate joint actions with partners.

Required profile

• University degree in International Relations, Human Rights, Development Studies or a related field.
• Proven experience in protection programming and coordination within humanitarian settings.
• Familiarity with the Inter‑Agency Standing Committee (IASC) Protection Policy.
• Ability to work effectively with multi‑stakeholder clusters and NGOs.
• Strong analytical and reporting skills.
