About the role
MSI Reproductive Choices Afghanistan (MSIA), a branch of MSI, a global non-profit NGO founded in 2002, is recruiting a pharmacist. The organisation works in 17 provinces of Afghanistan to reduce maternal mortality by providing maternal-child health and reproductive health services, in coordination with the Ministry of Public Health. - Stock in and stock out medicines following MSIA and pharmacy procedures, using stock cards and labelling medicines alphabetically or by pharmacological group.
- Apply the First In, First Out (FIFO) and First Expired, First Out (FEFO) systems and keep records of GRNs, monthly usage reports, stock cards, medicine requests and lists of expired medicines.
- Distribute medicines to clients on the basis of doctors' prescriptions and prepare monthly medicine usage reports.
- Carry out monthly physical stock counts, prepare requests for medicines, consumables and equipment, and re-order stock as directed by the Medical Stock Officer or clinic in charge.
- Check expiry dates, inform the pharmacy focal point at headquarters three months in advance, and ensure customers understand medicine usage.
- Work outside normal hours, help keep the centre tidy, and refer patients to medical staff or other clinics when needed.
Required profile
- Graduate from a Pharm.D. programme or hold a bachelor's degree in pharmacy.
- Understanding of the health system context and the medical/pharmaceutical market in Afghanistan (or similar).
- High-level written and spoken Dari and English, with a professional manner.
- Experience with national or international NGOs, preferably in the health sector, for two years.
- Ability to work with teams and support teams outside Afghanistan, and to meet stakeholder expectations in deadline-driven environments.
- Compliance with safeguarding policies and the MSI Afghanistan Code of Conduct.
