About the role
The Health Specialist will support the World Bank’s Health, Nutrition and Population Global Practice in the MENAAP region, focusing on Afghanistan. The role contributes to strengthening primary health care systems, health financing, and emergency health operations to advance universal health coverage.
Key responsibilities
- Support a portfolio of health systems strengthening projects, including health financing initiatives.
- Contribute to health emergency operations and response activities in fragile settings.
- Assist with investment operations and analytical work on health emergency prevention, preparedness, and response.
- Engage in capacity‑building programs covering health financing, non‑communicable diseases, pharmaceuticals, and related topics.
- Coordinate with regional and country partners such as WHO, UNICEF, the Global Fund, Gavi, and development agencies.
- Participate in the Reimbursable Advisory Services program for GCC countries, covering public health, NCDs, and climate‑change‑health issues.
