Head of Programme Afghanistan

About the role

NRC Afghanistan is looking for a Head of Programme to lead its programme unit and oversee the implementation and funding of high-quality programmes. The role holder manages technical development, including core competency strategies, and carries out quality assurance on project cycle management. It is based in Kabul on a 24-month contract.

Key responsibilities

• People leadership and compliance with NRC policies, guidelines and procedures
• Contribute to country strategy and plan of action, and develop core competency strategies
• Develop holistic, integrated, needs-based programmes and identify and forecast funding opportunities
• Manage grants, BPO allocations and donor reporting
• Oversee quality control, monitoring and evaluation, organisational learning and capacity building of technical staff
• Represent NRC in forums, clusters and working groups

Required profile

• Senior management experience in a humanitarian or recovery context
• Core competency expertise and a track record in programme and advocacy work
• Exposure to Afghanistan, the Middle East, complex and volatile contexts, and change processes (scaling up and down)
• Fluent written and spoken English
