Finance Manager – Afghanistan

About the role

NRC Afghanistan is looking for a Finance Manager to oversee the financial management of its operations in line with NRC policies, the Financial Handbook, donor requirements and audit and compliance standards. The role gives strategic and operational financial guidance to support programme implementation, maintain budgetary control, manage cash flow and promote transparency and accountability. It is open only to internal NRC candidates legally eligible to work in Afghanistan; work permits and visa sponsorship are not provided.

Key responsibilities

• Line management of staff, including performance management, workforce planning, recruitment, induction, development and Duty of Care support
• Training and coaching staff with financial responsibilities
• Ensuring adherence to the Financial Handbook, policies, donor and auditor requirements
• Implementing financial systems, routines and procedures
• Budget control and cashflow monitoring
• Reporting and analysis
• Anti-corruption policy implementation

Required profile

• Senior financial management experience in a humanitarian or recovery context
• Track record of capacity building, coaching and mentoring, and of leading effective teams
• Expertise in donors' financial rules and regulations
• Experience in complex, volatile contexts with displaced people
• Fluent English, written and spoken

Required skills

• Proficiency in computer software and modern accounting systems
• Knowledge of financial systems, routines and procedures
