Driver – United Nations Resident Coordination Office, Kabul

About the role

The United Nations Resident Coordination Office in Kabul is seeking a reliable driver to support the transport of personnel, cargo and documents. The role involves safe vehicle operation, routine deliveries, and assistance with customs and airport procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Drive UN vehicles safely for the transport of authorized personnel, general cargo, and specialized hazardous goods.
• Make regular deliveries of parcels, documents and other items between the UN office and external institutions such as ministries, embassies and permanent missions.
• Perform minor purchases, collect urgent supplies from local vendors, and handle customs clearance for goods.
• Meet official personnel at the airport and facilitate immigration and customs formalities as required.
• Maintain assigned vehicles daily – checking oil, water, battery, brakes, tires, performing minor repairs and arranging larger repairs.
• Log official trips, mileage, fuel consumption and maintenance activities.
• Follow UN rules and regulations in the event of an accident and assist with data collection and reporting.

Required profile

• Valid driver’s licence and proven ability to drive safely in diverse conditions.
• Familiarity with UN policies, customs regulations and airport procedures.
• Good judgment, tactful interaction with officials and visitors, and ability to perform basic vehicle maintenance.
