About the role
The Deputy Country Director for Programs (DCD‑P) will work closely with the Country Director to lead SI’s strategic programming across multiple provinces in Afghanistan, ensuring programmes are need‑driven, evidence‑based and conflict‑sensitive.
Key responsibilities
- Provide overall leadership and management of WASH, DRR/NRM and related humanitarian programmes.
- Ensure high‑quality programming and timely implementation despite tight deadlines.
- Strengthen capacity of Programme and MEAL teams and streamline cross‑cutting priorities.
- Develop new proposals for 2027 and beyond, focusing on the humanitarian‑development nexus.
- Maintain strong relationships with donors, partner NGOs, clusters and other stakeholders.
Required profile
- Master’s degree in a humanitarian‑related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, with 0‑2 years in a similar senior programme position.
- Proficiency in English; knowledge of Dari, Pashto or French is an asset.
Required skills
- Project management – planning, coordinating and monitoring projects.
- Analysis and reporting – ability to analyse data and produce clear technical documents.
- Digital and data management – strong Microsoft Office skills; experience with Kobo or similar digital data collection tools.
What we offer
- Gross monthly salary of EUR 3,080 (including base and leave allowance) plus USD 600 per diem.
- Accommodation, travel expenses, insurance package covering health, repatriation and war risks.
- Regular rest‑and‑relief rotation (7 working days off every two months) with additional break allowance.
