Concrete Batching Plant Operator / Engineer

About the role

Hamkar Noor Limited Company (HNC), an Afghan company active in electrical supply, construction and power distribution, is looking for a qualified and experienced Concrete Batching Plant Operator, preferably with an engineering background, for its reinforced concrete electricity pole manufacturing factory in Herat. The selected person will run, monitor and maintain the batching plant, ensure accurate material proportioning and consistent concrete quality, and support safe, efficient and reliable production.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and monitor automatic or semi-automatic batching plant systems safely and efficiently.
• Measure and batch cement, sand, aggregates, water and admixtures according to approved mix designs.
• Monitor mixing time, water-cement ratio, concrete consistency and other production parameters.
• Set and adjust equipment controls in line with mix designs and production needs.
• Inspect mixers, conveyors, cement silos, weighing systems, sensors and control panels, and troubleshoot basic mechanical, electrical and operational faults.
• Clean, maintain and calibrate equipment, and check weighing accuracy.
• Work with quality-control staff so concrete meets specifications, and monitor aggregate moisture.
• Keep daily records of batch quantities, output, material consumption, plant condition and downtime.
• Report material waste, batching errors and production inefficiencies, and coordinate with production supervisors and factory teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field is highly preferred; technical diploma holders and those with extensive practical experience are also considered.
• Minimum 3 years of practical experience operating concrete batching plants or comparable concrete production equipment.
• Demonstrated experience with automatic or semi-automatic batching plants.
• Experience in reinforced/precast concrete manufacturing or construction-material production is highly preferred.
• Experience in troubleshooting, routine maintenance and calibration is an advantage; an engineering qualification plus direct batching plant experience is a strong advantage.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of concrete technology, mix designs, cement, aggregates and water-cement ratios.
• Hands-on understanding of batching plants and computerized control systems, including mixers, sensors, weighing equipment and control panels.
• Ability to calculate material consumption and use basic computer applications.
• Basic understanding of quality-control methods, batching accuracy and recordkeeping.
