Case Worker – Child Protection

About the role

TACT, an impartial non-profit NGO/CSO, is implementing a project funded by the UNOCHA Afghanistan Humanitarian Fund to provide child protection, psychosocial and well-being services for vulnerable children and women in two districts of Nuristan Province. The Case Worker provides direct support and intervention to vulnerable children and their families, assessing child safety, developing case plans and coordinating services in line with legal and organisational policies.

Key responsibilities

• Guide children and families through the full case management process (identification, registration, assessment, case planning, implementation, follow-up, review and closure) as set out in the Standard Operating Procedures.
• Provide psychosocial and emotional support throughout the case management cycle.
• Make safe and appropriate referrals to essential services and follow up to confirm they meet the assessed needs.
• Engage with community members, service providers and government stakeholders to identify at-risk children and facilitate referrals.
• Maintain an up-to-date service map for the designated area.
• Take part in inter-agency case conferences and regular case management meetings.
• Follow the Child Protection Policy, Safeguarding Policy and Code of Conduct.
• Give constructive feedback on documentation and help design future programmes.
• Monitor the safety and security of field teams and report concerns promptly.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Law, social sciences or a related field.
• At least 4-5 years of relevant experience with NGOs and INGOs.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in high-pressure environments.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
