Protection Monitor

About the role

INTER SOS, a humanitarian organization operating in Afghanistan through field bases in Kabul, Kandahar and Zabul, is recruiting a Protection Monitor. The post covers monitoring, identification and referral of protection issues, concerns and trends in the assigned area of operation, and community engagement and empowerment.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor, survey and assess the target population at household and community level through household and site visits and phone calls.
• Identify and refer protection issues and concerns, and report on protection trends in the area.
• Identify and refer vulnerable persons of concern for case management support and other relevant services.
• Support community focal points, key informants and settlement representatives in need assessments, participatory monitoring and follow-up.
• Design and submit weekly work plans for visits and weekly reports.
• Use digital data collection systems, take part in training, clean data and supervise digital data collection.
• Provide inputs for monitoring and evaluation and document all monitoring activities according to standard formats.
• Plan and run focus group discussions, key informant interviews, individual interviews and awareness sessions for beneficiaries.
• Liaise with community representatives, local leaders and grassroots organizations and orient them on the project.
• Comply with INTER SOS PSEA, CP and data protection policies.

Required profile

• Baccalaureate degree (12th grade) in social sciences or similar, highly desirable.
• 1 year of relevant experience in the protection sector.
• Pashto and Dari skills required; English preferable.
• Experience in protection emergency response projects and with an international NGO is preferable.
• Commitment to INTER SOS principles and compliance with its policies and procedures.
• Strong organizational and communication skills, able to present information and answer questions from supervisors in the field.
• Willingness to travel and stay overnight at service delivery points.
