Programme Associate – Integrated Programming Unit (IPU)

About the role

The Programme Associate will support the Integrated Programming Unit (IPU) of UN Women Afghanistan in designing, implementing and monitoring programmes that advance gender equality and women’s empowerment. Working under the direct supervision of the IPU Programme Analyst, the role provides essential research, financial and operational assistance to ensure programme delivery aligns with UN Women policies and donor requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the development and implementation of integrated programmes across protection, humanitarian and economic empowerment sectors.
• Conduct research and analysis to inform programme design and policy recommendations.
• Support financial management tasks, including budgeting, tracking expenditures and preparing donor reports.
• Provide day‑to‑day operational, administrative and programmatic support to the IPU team.
• Coordinate with operations, finance, partners and sub‑offices to ensure coherent and results‑focused delivery.
• Contribute to monitoring, evaluation and donor reporting processes.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in programme support, research and financial administration within an international or humanitarian context.
• Ability to work effectively in a highly constrained and rapidly evolving environment.
• Strong coordination and communication skills to liaise with multiple stakeholders.
• Familiarity with UN Women rules, regulations and donor reporting standards.
