GIS and mWater Data Officer

About the role

The GIS & mWater Data Officer will support World Vision Afghanistan's WASH programme by managing GIS mapping, mWater administration, data quality, spatial analysis, visualisation and reporting. The role ensures that all WASH assets, beneficiaries and activities are accurately captured and available for evidence‑based planning and donor reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Administer the mWater platform for all WASH projects, maintain user access, remove duplicate records and ensure proper linkage of assets.
• Update and maintain OMS, OCMS, Digital ITT and WASH asset databases in a timely manner.
• Map WASH infrastructure (boreholes, wells, water systems, schools, health facilities, sanitation, canals, irrigation, land‑re‑greening) and community beneficiaries.
• Develop and maintain GIS databases, compile geographic data from surveys, field observations, satellite imagery, aerial photos and existing maps.
• Produce thematic maps, infrastructure inventories, spatial analysis reports and watershed delineation analyses.
• Create dashboards, analytical reports and monthly/quarterly/annual monitoring outputs.
• Submit data to the WASH cluster system and the MRRD MIS platform on schedule.

Required profile

• Experience in GIS mapping and data management for WASH or similar humanitarian projects.
• Familiarity with mWater platform administration and data quality assurance.
• Ability to work with multiple data sources and produce clear visual and written reports.
