Reporter – Local Government & Public Affairs

About the role

The Reporter position at Robert Halfon is a full‑time, on‑site role located in the 2nd District. The incumbent will research and cover local government activities, public events, policy announcements and issues that affect constituents. This role supports both internal and external audiences with accurate, engaging news content.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct interviews and gather facts from multiple sources.
• Write clear, factual and timely news stories for publication.
• Produce reports and multimedia content to support public information campaigns.
• Coordinate with communications staff, attend meetings and briefings.
• Verify information and ensure alignment with organizational guidelines and public service values.

Required profile

• Strong reporting and news‑writing abilities.
• Excellent communication and writing skills for interviews and press materials.
• Familiarity with government, politics or public administration, or a strong interest in public affairs.
• Ability to work on‑site in a fast‑paced environment, manage multiple assignments and meet tight deadlines.
• Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Political Science or related field, or equivalent experience (preferred).

Required skills

• Basic proficiency with digital audio/video publishing tools.
