Project Assistant (Herat, Afghanistan)

About the role
CESVI is seeking a Project Assistant to support its humanitarian programmes in Afghanistan. Based in Herat, the role will involve regular visits to Kabul and field missions across the country, depending on security conditions. You will work under the Senior Programme Manager/Country Coordinator, contributing to the planning, monitoring and reporting of projects funded by donors such as AICS, the EU, UNHCR, UNICEF, WFP and IOM.
Key responsibilities
- Assist in operational planning and monitor activity progress against workplans, budgets and indicators.
- Collect, organise and archive project documentation, including workplans, reports, minutes and attendance sheets.
- Support data analysis and indicator tracking in collaboration with M&E staff.
- Draft periodic and final narrative reports in line with donor and CESVI requirements.
- Verify financial consistency between activities, expenditures and budgets, reporting any deviations.
- Assist procurement and logistics processes, including gathering quotations and preparing purchase requests.
- Participate in internal coordination meetings and facilitate communication among project departments.
- Contribute to project visibility, communication activities, and the preparation of assessment reports.
- Provide input for new project proposals and support programme implementation.
Required profile
- University degree or postgraduate degree, preferably in Social Sciences, Political Sciences or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in international cooperation or humanitarian project support.
- Strong organisational and analytical abilities.
