Programme Associate (Nutrition) - G6

About the role

The World Food Programme (WFP) is hiring a Programme Associate (Nutrition) in Jalalabad, Afghanistan. The postholder works under the WFP Jalalabad Area Office and reports to the Nutrition Programme Policy Officer and the Head of Program as needed. The role focuses on managing nutrition activities under Human Capital Development (HCD) and providing technical support to nutrition programmes delivered through health facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical and programme support for planning, implementation, monitoring and follow-up of WFP nutrition activities (TSFP, BSFP, stunting prevention and MCBP).
• Support the management of nutrition projects and Field Level Agreements, including calls for proposals, budget reviews, amendments, timelines, COPAC processes and communication with partners.
• Maintain accurate nutrition programme data and records, including beneficiary data and project files.
• Analyse and report on implementation progress, beneficiary reach, performance indicators and resource use, and coordinate with field offices, the Nutrition Cluster and partners on reporting.
• Liaise with the WFP Country Office and technical units, and coordinate with partners, government counterparts, UN agencies and other stakeholders.
• Monitor programme implementation and nutritious food requirements, including stock and utilization, and identify gaps or pipeline issues.
• Facilitate workshops, trainings, review meetings and field missions, and contribute to programme quality and improvement.

Required profile

• Minimum 6 years of experience in nutrition, medicine, public health, food science or project management in a humanitarian context.
• Bachelor's degree; medical, nutrition, public health and food science degrees preferred.
• Fluent spoken and written English and in the local languages (Pashto/Dari).
