Planning & Monitoring Specialist (Fixed‑Term, NO‑3)

About the role

UNICEF is recruiting a Planning & Monitoring Specialist on a fixed‑term basis (NO‑3) to support its programmes in Afghanistan. The position is based in Mazar‑i‑Sharif and will contribute to both humanitarian action and basic human needs programming.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and update programme work plans, budgets and monitoring frameworks.
• Collect, analyse and verify data on programme performance and outcomes.
• Prepare regular monitoring reports for internal and external stakeholders.
• Support coordination with UN agencies, NGOs and government partners.
• Ensure compliance with UNICEF’s Core Commitments for Children in Humanitarian Action.

Required profile

• Afghan national with a relevant university degree.
• Proven experience in planning, monitoring or evaluation of humanitarian or development programmes.
• Strong understanding of the Afghan context and humanitarian principles.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Dari/Pashto.
