Partnerships Specialist (P-3) – Fixed Term, 12 months

About the role

The Partnerships Specialist will support UNICEF Afghanistan’s resource mobilisation strategy, working under the Chief Resource Mobilisation and Partnerships. The role focuses on building and managing relationships with donors, development banks and other partners to secure funding for humanitarian and development programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Implement the work plan for the assigned partnership area, ensuring timely and cost‑effective delivery of results.
• Identify, negotiate and broker new partnership and resource‑mobilisation agreements.
• Screen inquiries from potential collaborators and facilitate communication with relevant UNICEF staff.
• Maintain a database of key contacts and monitor external environment for opportunities and risks.
• Develop and execute annual partnership engagement and resource‑mobilisation plans.
• Manage the grant contribution cycle, preparing donor proposals, reports and submissions in line with compliance standards.
• Provide guidance, training and coaching to short‑term staff, interns and consultants.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree (Master’s) in Political Science, Communications, International Development or related field.
• Minimum five years of experience in partnerships, resource mobilisation, donor relations, grant management or similar roles.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of another UN language is desirable.
• Experience in humanitarian or fragile settings, preferably at country level.
