About the role
The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is seeking a qualified Midwife to provide high‑quality reproductive health services in humanitarian settings. You will work directly with clients, community health volunteers, and local partners to ensure safe maternal and newborn care while promoting informed family‑planning choices.
Key responsibilities
- Monitor and report safety and security concerns, liaising with community leaders to maintain a safe operating environment.
- Provide client‑centered reproductive health consultations, including birth‑spacing counseling and method‑mix options.
- Conduct triage, screening, and clinical assessments, taking reproductive health histories and determining medical eligibility for contraceptives.
- Perform basic and assisted deliveries, neonatal and obstetric resuscitation, and provide short‑ and long‑acting contraceptive services (implant, IUD, injectables).
- Deliver antenatal and postnatal care according to national and international protocols.
- Support community health volunteers through training, supervision, and quality verification of family‑planning counseling.
- Ensure accurate documentation of services and timely referrals to emergency obstetric care centers.
Required profile
- Certified midwife with relevant clinical certification for implant, IUD, and injectable provision.
- Experience providing maternal‑newborn and reproductive health services in low‑resource or humanitarian contexts.
- Strong ability to work collaboratively with community health workers and stakeholders.
