Midwife (Level 1) – Reproductive Health

About the role

The International Rescue Committee seeks a dedicated Midwife‑1 to deliver high‑quality reproductive health services in humanitarian settings. You will provide client‑centered care, mentor community health volunteers, and ensure safe delivery and family planning services.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direct reproductive health clinical care, including triage, screening, and medical eligibility assessment for contraceptive methods.
• Perform basic and assisted deliveries, neonatal and obstetric resuscitation, and a full range of short‑ and long‑acting contraceptive services (implant, IUD, injectable).
• Deliver antenatal and postnatal care following national and international protocols.
• Offer rights‑based family planning counseling, supervise community health workers, and verify counseling quality.
• Maintain infection prevention and control measures, record services accurately, and refer emergencies to the nearest obstetric care centre.
• Support health education, hygiene promotion, nutrition screening, and psychosocial referrals.

Required profile

• Certified midwife with relevant clinical certification for delivery and contraceptive procedures.
• Experience providing reproductive health services in low‑resource or humanitarian contexts.
• Ability to mentor and supervise community health volunteers and staff.
• Commitment to rights‑based, client‑centered care and accurate documentation.
