About the role
The MHPSS Officer (Maternity Cover) will work closely with Health and Nutrition teams to integrate mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) priorities into programme delivery across South and North regions. This temporary position supports community engagement, assessments, and the development of context‑relevant interventions.
Key responsibilities
- Contribute to regional work plans, ensuring MHPSS priorities are embedded in health and nutrition programmes.
- Build and maintain relationships with community stakeholders around MHPSS.
- Coordinate multi‑dimensional needs assessments and analyse local MHPSS contexts.
- Develop and disseminate community awareness materials on MHPSS.
- Map MHPSS services, vet referral options, and establish referral pathways.
- Review and adapt MHPSS intervention packages, tools, and messages for local relevance.
- Provide supportive supervision to PSS Officers, following global standards.
- Assist in monitoring and reporting on the MHPSS portfolio.
- Participate in local MHPSS coordination platforms and forums.
- Train and coach Health & Nutrition teams on basic helping skills, Psychological First Aid (PFA), safe identification, referral, and paraprofessional counselling.
Required profile
- Demonstrated accountability and ability to make decisions while managing resources efficiently.
- Commitment to Save the Children values and humanitarian principles.
- Experience working in health, nutrition, or psychosocial support programmes.
- Ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders and provide supervision.
