Medical Coordinator – Afghanistan

About the role

Join Médecins du Monde’s mission in Afghanistan as a Medical Coordinator, leading the development and quality of health programmes in a challenging humanitarian context. You will work closely with the General Coordinator and HQ Health Advisor to ensure access to quality healthcare for vulnerable populations.

Key responsibilities

• Define, drive and monitor the mission’s medical strategy, aligning it with global priorities, especially SRHR.
• Ensure quality, relevance and effectiveness of health, nutrition, MHPSS and SRHR activities across programmes.
• Lead, coach and manage a technical medical team, fostering capacity‑building and performance management.
• Analyse programme performance and medical data to inform decision‑making and continuous improvement.
• Design new projects, contribute to donor proposals and support strategic development.
• Represent MdM with health authorities, humanitarian actors, partners and community stakeholders.
• Adapt programmes and priorities in response to contextual changes and emergencies.

Required profile

• Strong commitment to human rights, non‑discrimination and respectful engagement in sensitive contexts.
• Proven ability to provide strategic medical leadership and structure complex health programmes.
• Experience strengthening quality, relevance and impact of SRHR or public health programmes.
• Demonstrated skill in building productive relationships and negotiating with authorities and diverse stakeholders.
• Calm, analytical and decisive response to emergencies and rapidly changing environments.

What we offer

• Gross monthly salary of €3,664 plus 13th‑month salary after six months.
• Expatriation allowance (10% of gross salary) and coverage of travel, visas and vaccinations.
