Information Systems Officer

About the role

The Information Systems Officer will be based in the UNAMA Kabul Main Office and will report to the Chief of the Field Technology Section. The role leads the planning, implementation and management of mission-wide information systems and network infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and direct major information systems projects, overseeing analysis, design, development, testing and implementation of moderately complex systems.
• Manage the Information Systems unit budget, ensuring allocations, expenditures and funding are monitored to avoid overruns.
• Develop technical specifications, evaluate vendor proposals and coordinate procurement of equipment and services.
• Implement and monitor information systems standards, guidelines, disaster recovery plans and security configurations.
• Provide specialized advice, develop user documentation, train staff and support existing systems, including troubleshooting and performance monitoring.
• Lead the operation and maintenance of internetworking systems, routers, switches, servers, databases and related equipment.

Required profile

• At least ten years of progressively responsible experience in information systems, telecommunications or related fields.
• Experience developing ICT disaster recovery and security plans, preferably in a UN or similar international organization operating in conflict or post‑conflict settings.
• Professionalism, strong planning and organizational skills, and the ability to work under pressure.

Required skills

• Information System Security Professional certification (CISSP) – required.
• Cisco Certified Networking Professional certification (CCNP) – required.
