Information Management Consultant – Polio Section (6‑month, remote with travel)

About the role

The consultant will support UNICEF Afghanistan’s Polio Section during a critical six‑month phase (Oct 2026‑Mar 2027). Working remotely with occasional travel, you will help pilot and scale the programme’s “reset” strategy, introducing new data systems and digitisation processes.

Key responsibilities

• Integrate SBC, VCCM and polio extender monitoring data into the Afghanistan Polio Management Information System (APMIS) to enable real‑time analysis.
• Provide structured information‑management technical support to the Monitoring & Evaluation team and field offices during the reset pilot in the South and Southeast regions.
• Design and pilot an AI‑assisted workflow for digitising paper‑based registration books in the East Region, including proof of concept, field pilot, scale‑up concept note and trend analysis.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Information Management, Data Science, IT, Computer Science, Public Health Informatics or related field.
• At least 5 years progressive experience in information or data management, including 2 years as an IM consultant or staff within a UN system or large‑scale public‑health programme.
• Demonstrated experience with immunisation data systems at scale; familiarity with polio‑specific systems such as APMIS is an advantage.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of Dari or Pashto is a plus.

• Data visualisation tools: Power BI, Tableau, ArcGIS.
• Database and collaboration platforms: SharePoint.
• Programming for data processing: Python and advanced Excel.
• Experience with AI‑assisted digitisation of large datasets.
