Humanitarian Access Working Group Coordinator

About the role

The Humanitarian Access Working Group Coordinator will co‑lead the Humanitarian Access Working Group (HAWG) for NRC Afghanistan. This senior position ensures strong collaboration among humanitarian actors, provides strategic guidance on access issues, and represents the group with donors, authorities and other stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Co‑lead the Humanitarian Access Working Group and serve as the primary focal point for NGOs.
• Foster collaboration and coordination among humanitarian actors, clusters and forums.
• Provide advocacy, negotiation support and promote compliance with humanitarian principles and international humanitarian law.
• Review, revise and implement the Humanitarian Country Team Access Strategy, HAWG Engagement Strategy and Joint Operational Principles.
• Develop, endorse and execute the HAWG workplan, monitoring guidance and advisory outputs.
• Represent the HAWG before donors, authorities and other stakeholders.
• Coordinate responses to emerging access challenges across coordination platforms.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in conflict or post‑conflict humanitarian operations in volatile environments.
• Deep technical knowledge of humanitarian access and related policy frameworks.
• Proven experience in forum leadership, coordination and stakeholder management.
• Familiarity with humanitarian principles, protection standards and access tools.
• Strong analytical, networking and negotiation abilities.
• Fluency in written and spoken English.
