Field Monitor - Humanitarian Projects (Afghanistan)

About the role

CTG recruits, deploys and manages staff to support humanitarian and development projects in fragile and conflict-affected countries. It is recruiting 60 Field Monitors for the West region of Afghanistan (Ghor, Herat, Farah, Badghis) for a 1-year assignment starting 01-Jan-2027. The Field Monitor carries out monitoring and verification activities on behalf of a client, reporting to the TPM Provincial Coordinator.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out beneficiary verifications, spot checks, warehouse and CP stock monitoring, food/CBT distribution monitoring, post-distribution monitoring, compliance case verification, rapid assessments, market price data collection, research and qualitative work (e.g. FGDs), and final project verification and handover.
• Review previous monitoring reports and project documents before each mission, coordinate with stakeholders such as partners, communities and financial service providers, and report urgent issues to the client's Area Office.
• Guide and support cooperating partners, document findings and submit periodic reports (checklists, PDM forms, assessment forms) via tools such as MODA, KOBO and ONA.
• Provide photographic evidence of activities, use resources efficiently, and protect beneficiary data in line with data protection principles.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in economics, sociology, agriculture, civil engineering, public health, development/humanitarian studies or a relevant field.
• At least 5 years of experience in monitoring and data collection, and 5 years of experience in Afghanistan.
• Fluent in Dari and Pashto, and very good written and spoken English.

Required skills

• Use of MS Word, MS Excel and smartphones, including remote data collection with Kobo, ODK, MODA and ONA.
• Knowledge of Core Humanitarian Standards and of security and cultural context.
• Strong analytical, communication and coordination skills.
