Community Engagement Team Leader

About the role

The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is seeking a Community Engagement Team Leader to drive its community‑engagement programme in Afghanistan. The role will support the design and delivery of activities that promote social cohesion, peace and conflict mitigation, working closely with programme staff and external partners.

Key responsibilities

• Assist Community Engagement officers with procurement planning, updates and follow‑up.
• Provide translation of training materials and interpretation during meetings as needed.
• Plan, organise and facilitate trainings and workshops on community safety, mapping and conflict management.
• Support the CE Specialist/HDP Manager in adapting training methodology, content and materials.
• Identify, develop and implement community safety and social cohesion initiatives.
• Maintain regular communication with Area Office staff for mentoring and reporting.
• Establish and maintain linkages with relevant internal and external stakeholders.
• Collaborate with the Area Programme Manager and CE Specialist to conduct and share conflict assessments.
• Build capacity of CE officers and provide on‑the‑job mentorship.

Required profile

• Demonstrated commitment to humanitarian principles and community‑engagement work.
• Experience in organising trainings, workshops and community safety planning.
• Ability to conduct conflict analysis and support conflict‑sensitive programming.
• Strong communication and coordination skills for working with diverse stakeholders.
• Capacity to mentor and support junior staff members.
