Community Engagement Officer

About the role

The Danish Refugee Council is seeking a Community Engagement Officer to lead and support community‑engagement activities in Afghanistan. The role focuses on promoting social cohesion, peace, and mitigating conflict impacts through well‑planned and monitored programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, implement and follow up on conflict‑management, humanitarian mediation and community‑engagement activities in line with sector standards.
• Collaborate with other sector teams to ensure integrated activity planning and implementation.
• Monitor budgets and work plans to guarantee timely, compliant delivery of activities.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual reports, donor proposals and budgets.
• Conduct monitoring and evaluation exercises together with programme leads and MEAL units.
• Represent DRC at technical coordination meetings and maintain strong relationships with beneficiaries, stakeholders and other humanitarian actors.
• Provide inputs for programme development and explore opportunities for cross‑sector collaboration.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in community engagement, conflict management or humanitarian mediation.
• Ability to conduct conflict analysis and support conflict‑sensitivity efforts.
• Strong coordination skills and capacity to work with diverse stakeholders.
• Excellent reporting and documentation abilities.
