Community Engagement Officer

About the role

The Danish Refugee Council is seeking a Community Engagement Officer to lead the design and delivery of community‑engagement activities in Afghanistan. The role focuses on promoting social cohesion, peace, and mitigating the impact of conflict through coordinated humanitarian interventions.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, implement and monitor conflict‑management and humanitarian mediation activities in line with sector standards.
• Conduct conflict analysis to support conflict‑sensitive programming.
• Develop and maintain relationships with persons of concern, local stakeholders and other humanitarian actors.
• Coordinate with other DRC sector teams to ensure integrated programme delivery.
• Track budgets and work plans to ensure timely and compliant implementation.
• Prepare regular highlights, reports, proposals and donor budgets.
• Support monitoring and evaluation activities in partnership with the MEAL team.
• Represent DRC at technical coordination meetings and explore collaboration opportunities.

Required profile

• Proven experience in community engagement, conflict management or related humanitarian fields.
• Ability to conduct conflict analysis and apply conflict‑sensitive approaches.
• Strong stakeholder management skills and experience working with diverse partners.
• Experience in budgeting, reporting and donor communication.
