Supply Chain Planning Consultant

About the role

Ciena is looking for an experienced Supply Chain Planning Consultant to lead production planning and scheduling at its manufacturing site in Thailand. The role ensures customer delivery commitments are met by aligning demand, capacity, materials and operational readiness across internal teams and contract manufacturers.

Key responsibilities

• Drive planning and scheduling activities to match customer demand with delivery commitments.
• Develop and maintain production plans that balance requirements, capacity, material availability and operational constraints.
• Use data, analytical tools and mathematically based models to inform planning decisions.
• Monitor execution against plans and coordinate corrective actions to close gaps.
• Identify, communicate and escalate risks related to capacity, materials, resources and manufacturing constraints.
• Partner with contract‑manufacturer planning teams to understand constraints and improve execution.
• Provide on‑site visibility into inventory, capacity, surge capacity, factory readiness, risks and opportunities for the global Planning organization.
• Collaborate cross‑functionally with Planning, Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Procurement and Supply Chain to resolve planning challenges.
• Prepare and present planning insights, capacity outlooks, risk assessments and recommendations to stakeholders and leadership.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, Business or a related discipline.
• 10‑15 years of experience in supply chain planning, production planning, manufacturing operations or scheduling, preferably in telecom, semiconductor, high‑tech or electronics environments.
• Proven ability to influence and collaborate across engineering, manufacturing and quality teams to achieve delivery commitments.
• Experience owning production or supply planning activities with contract manufacturers and global supply chain organizations.
• Strong analytical, stakeholder‑management and presentation capabilities.
