Partnerships Specialist – Fixed Term (12 months)

About the role

UNICEF Afghanistan is seeking a Partnerships Specialist to support its extensive humanitarian and development portfolio. Working under the Chief Resource Mobilization and Partnerships, the incumbent will help implement the country’s resource mobilisation strategy, build new donor relationships and ensure effective stewardship of contributions.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and promote new partnership and resource mobilisation opportunities, negotiating agreements to meet programme needs.
• Screen inquiries from potential collaborators and facilitate communication with relevant UNICEF staff.
• Maintain a database of current and prospective partners, expanding the network of key interlocutors across governments, development banks, foundations and civil society.
• Develop and implement annual partnership engagement and resource mobilisation plans.
• Manage the grant contribution cycle, ensuring timely, high‑quality donor proposals, reports and compliance submissions.
• Provide guidance, training and coaching to short‑term staff, interns and consultants as needed.

Required profile

• Master’s degree or equivalent in Political Science, Communications, International Development, Public Administration or a related field.
• Minimum five years of experience in partnerships, resource mobilisation, donor relations, grant management or related areas.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of an additional UN official language is desirable.
• Demonstrated ability to work in fragile, humanitarian settings and with multilateral development banks.
