Logistics Assistant (G-5) – Fixed Term – Kabul

About the role

UNICEF is seeking a Logistics Assistant (G‑5) on a fixed‑term basis in Kabul to support the efficient delivery of programme supplies. The role provides operational and administrative support across in‑country logistics, warehousing and inventory management, ensuring compliance with UNICEF policies and standards.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in logistics planning, shipment monitoring, customs clearance, transport, warehousing and distribution of supplies.
• Liaise with programme teams, supply colleagues and external service providers, maintaining accurate logistics documentation.
• Support performance monitoring of service providers and help resolve operational issues.
• Manage warehousing activities, including receipt, dispatch, stock reporting and physical inventory counts.
• Monitor stock levels, expiry dates and apply FIFO/FEFO principles; coordinate disposal of commodities when required.

Required profile

• Completed secondary education (high school diploma); additional technical or university courses in supply chain, business administration or related fields are preferred.
• Minimum five years of relevant administrative experience in supply chain management, with a focus on logistics.
• Open to Afghan nationals or candidates holding a valid work permit for Afghanistan.
