Logistics Assistant – Fixed‑Term (G‑5) in Kabul

About the role

UNICEF Afghanistan is seeking a Logistics Assistant to ensure that essential programme supplies are delivered efficiently and on time. The role provides operational and administrative support across in‑country logistics, warehousing and inventory management, helping maintain an effective supply chain while complying with UNICEF policies.

Key responsibilities

• Support logistics planning and operations, including shipment monitoring, customs clearance, transport, warehousing and distribution.
• Liaise with programme teams, supply colleagues and external service providers; maintain accurate logistics documentation and records.
• Monitor service‑provider performance and help resolve operational issues to ensure timely delivery of supplies.
• Assist with warehousing activities: assess storage capacity, receive and dispatch supplies, conduct stock reporting and physical inventory counts.
• Apply FIFO and FEFO principles, monitor expiry dates and support appropriate disposal of commodities.

Required profile

• Completion of secondary education (high school diploma); technical or university courses in supply chain, business administration, contract/commercial law or related fields are preferred.
• Minimum five (5) years of relevant administrative experience in supply chain management, with a strong emphasis on logistics.
• Open to Afghan nationals and candidates holding a valid work permit for Afghanistan.
