Global Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Advisor

About the role

As a member of the Headquarters Technical Unit Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) team, you will provide technical quality oversight and programmatic guidance to global and country‑level MHPSS activities. The role supports the design, implementation and evaluation of culturally appropriate mental health programmes for refugees and crisis‑affected populations.

Key responsibilities

• Support country teams in developing and running culturally appropriate MHPSS activities, including MH/PHC integration, case management, early childhood development, Psychological First Aid and peer‑support programmes.
• Assist in proposal development and ensure all work follows IASC MHPSS guidelines and International Medical Corps standards.
• Provide cross‑cutting integration support with Nutrition, Health, Child Protection and VAWG programmes.
• Coordinate with government authorities, NGOs and international bodies, representing IMC in national and international forums.
• Develop and apply standardized monitoring and evaluation tools, capture lessons learned and produce field trip reports with recommendations.

Required profile

• University degree in a related field (psychology, clinical social work, psychiatry, psychiatric nursing) or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in mental health, with at least 5 years establishing MHPSS programmes in humanitarian or low‑resource settings.
• Deep knowledge of IASC MHPSS guidelines and experience in training and capacity building.
• Strong organizational, supervisory, reporting and writing abilities.
• Excellent English communication skills and willingness to travel frequently on short notice.
