Civil Engineer Internship

About the role

Join Aecon's Civil East sector as a Civil Engineer Intern, supporting project cost monitoring, material procurement, and technical documentation on infrastructure projects.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare simple plans, designs, calculations, cost estimates and bills of material following codes and specifications.
• Support monitoring of project costs, material quantities and scheduling.
• Assist in interpreting plans and specifications for contractors and craft supervision.
• Manage project‑specific material and equipment purchases, vendor relations and invoice processing.
• Help prepare bids and proposals for new work.
• Generate RFIs and NCRs to address design changes and technical issues.

Required profile

• Currently enrolled in a Civil Engineering or related degree program.
• Ability to read and understand construction drawings and contract documents.
• Self‑motivated with strong organizational and communication skills.
• Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel as required.

Required skills

• Interpretation of construction drawings.
• Basic knowledge of contract language and terms.
• Understanding of job cost fundamentals and basic accounting principles.
